I think I have a couple of bucket lists at least.
There is one for here in Norway, one for Scotland and maybe rUK and one for the world.
Starting with waters Caledon in rouhg order of precedence
Winning a small boat OD Sco Nats
Winning West Highland Week
Winning class at Scottish series *od most likely
Doing St Kidla race
Winning round Mull
Winning Round Shuna
Winning the Tobermory Race
Winning Round Bute
Winning Sco 2 handed
Completing the Malts Cruise
Wayfarer Expedition
Retracint my Fathers 1976 tour de force to Loch Torridon and the Summer Isles
Exploring the outer Hebrides
Winning Cove Regatta
Winning Oban Regatta
All of these are dooable in fact , not being inhumile, just that I have been the driving force or helm on wins on many of these already. West Highland Week and Round Mull for example. There are some very fond memories of picking up trophies and drinking from silver plate cups in those years, as well as just having some fine battles in foul weather and fair. I would say being made all the fonder by getting out and seeing it from a distance, and being able to see that a wayfarer expedition may be more rewarding than winning the IRC champinships as guest helm. I rather fancy winning Tarbert and West Highland Week in an Impala or laser 28, or OD for that matter.
MJy bucket list for back to reality is more likely to be more opportunist. Sailing to places without pubs or affordable restaurants is not quite for me, and having won the (arguably) second largest event in Norway, Askoy Rundt, and come 16th out of 1000 boats in Faerder'n I kind of feel I have my spurs welded to my ankles here too.
World wise it is not really races that appeal to me, it is types of boats and specific places. Terra Del Fuego, The Outrigger races of the Caribean, Dows on the Nile. That type of thing,. Ok maybe sailing on J at Antigua Week or the likes. Maybe it is rolling off a log having been blown DDW with a banna leaf held a loft and meeting Davey Jones as my last strike through on lifes great bucket list.
