It should have happened in Oslo, but it was going to happen somewhere else. Inevitability that an ol' salt croc' who likes some speed would be out on a melted.
So the low down? Well I prefer the bene platu 25 upwind: jib tweaks and that Farr lineage in the scale rule design. U think the platu adjusts better but also tacks better and powers up on the hull better.
I had expected the midi melger to be tender but it is a more solid platform due to the keel and bulb being more sorted. The hull feels dull ans in a one gear angle maybe dye ti a flatter deadrise and of course those trademark slab sides against Farr's signature flares.
Off wind it sailed like a bloody yacht too, if a little smoother and faster for the wind than say a j109. Light winds for me, nick Willits reported.a.17knt peak on a forteen average on a distance race last.weekend , so that is where it all happens. Rightly so.
All in all an over hyped boat with a rig which MUST be tuned or.you are phuket. Price has been mad but as a used Wednesday warrior thy are now eminently affordable for a second boat for the comfortable.of wallet, to a bum's syndicate.
When I think back to sailing boats like the first class 8, the modest hunter 707, the schplatu as I mention, and not to mention the assym dinghies I have sailed, then I don't see what the fuss is about other than it is a snobby grand prix boat like the etchells used.to be. I would say build a one design fleet around it yeah, but really still go for somehi
